This week’s article features round 2 of our new brand focus skincare series, where we here at FABSOC analyse and investigate the best brands in the skincare business today so that you don’t have to!

Last time we took a look at The Ordinary, an affordable and super varied staple for anyone’s skin care routine.  This week we’ve decided to explore a brand that falls more on the other side of the spectrum, something pricey, but with a lot of use and functionality packed into one product. This week we explore Drunk Elephant.

What is Drunk Elephant?

Some of you may recognise Drunk Elephant as the brand with the cute packaging that your eye gets drawn towards when you’re having a spending spree at Sephora and Mecca. Now while the prices may be a little off-putting, especially for university students like us who’ll take every bargain we can conceivably find, there is actually quite a lot of value hidden within those fancy looking bottles and labels.

Drunk Elephant’s mission statement seems to be to create skin care products that walk the line between synthetic and natural ingredients, with next no harmful toxins whatsoever.  In fact Drunk Elephant specifically specifies that there products contain none of what they call the ‘Suspicious 6” (Essential Oils, Drying Alcohols, Silicones, Chemical Sunscreens, Fragrances/Dyes, SLS), pioneering a movement away from specialised skin care products for sensitive skin, to a more generalised approach that targets the skincare issues that affect everyone regardless of skin type.

For those of us who don’t have the time, or are honestly too lazy to go through the long and grueling process of experimentation to find those perfect products for our skincare routine, Drunk Elephant a offers a great ‘Jack-of-All’ trades solution in their products that is guaranteed to work for you in some way or another, if Your willing to the pay the price.

If this sounds like the brand for you but you don’t know where to start, then take a look at two of our personal product recommendations from the Drunk Elephant.

Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream

One of the cheaper products on the Drunk Elephant range, this all-in-one moisturiser is all you’ll need to keep your skin looking hydrated and smooth

T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum

A fantastic exfoliator that helps enhance the effectiveness of the other products you might use in your skincare routine. This will help your skin be smoother, softer and brighter with minimum effort
